Inter-College Competition

The students of Nitte Pre University College participated in an Inter-college competition which was held at St.Claret College through the zoom platform. Many unique competitions were held and we're proud to say that our students took participation in it. More importantly, competitions are conducted to improve student's talent, creativity, courage, and ability. On the flipside, competition is very important in one's life. When students take part in an Inter-college competition along with their talents, students will also be knowing about their potential when compared to other students which would give them scope for development. Competitions will also build up great confidence, communication skills and the students can improve still more. Our college participants swept the board in the competition.

The winners are awarded with shields and valuable certificates. Here are our winners:

Collage making competition

The collage-making competition was held online on the 28th of November at Nitte Pre University College. Collage making is a technique of composing a work of art by pasting on a single surface various materials not normally associated with one another, as newspaper clippings, parts of photographs, theater tickets, and fragments of an envelope.

This competition was held to improve the creative talents of students and also the active participation of students in the competition. This would surely improve students' hidden talents. To find out pictures for collage making, the students will look into unknown facts or information resources. So that this also enables the students to look into the newspapers, magazines, and other information resources which they never come over.

This enables the students to gain extra knowledge apart from books. The students were given with Kannada Rajyotsava theme. Unquestionably that this was the best opportunity for the students to express their gracious love for our beloved state. This is also the time to express our colossal respect for our state Karnataka. Students exhibited their stunning talents by making astounding collages. They used unique paper clips from newspapers, magazines, and old books.

This competition was held to encourage students to participate in extra co-curricular activities and improve their skills, knowledge, and ability.

"Life is like a collage. Its pieces are arranged to create harmony. Appreciate the artwork of your life".

Lantern Making competition

Diwali is a festival of lights and one of the major festivals celebrated in India. As a part of Diwali celebration, NITTE Pre University College organized an online Lantern Making competition for the PU students on 17th November 2020. The competitions received an enormous response from our students.

The students were asked to make a lantern and the participants displayed stunning creative designs.

This competition is held to encourage our budding artists to display their expertise. Here are our winners.

Saraswathi Puja

Saraswathi Puja is an integral part of Navarathri festivities and is commended to pay tribute to the Goddess of learning. Puja of Maa Saraswati, Goddess of Knowledge, was held on 22nd October 2020 at Nitte Pre- University College, Bengaluru.

On the auspicious day of Saraswati Puja, the faculty and a few students gathered to seek the blessings of the goddess Saraswathi.

The rituals were conducted by the Pandit who along with pooja, conveyed the importance of the day and the concept of worshiping the Goddess of knowledge. The ritual was concluded by serving Prasad to everyone present.

We Offered prayer to the goddess and sought her blessing for an enlightened life.

Painting Competition

5th Sep 2020

An online painting competition was organized at Nitte Pre University College, Bangalore, Shivakote on 5th Sep 2020.

The students actively participated in the competition. The first PU students were given the topic ‘Save Mother Earth’ and for second PU “Lord Ganesha” topic was given, on which they enthusiastically painted their perceptions. 

It was indeed a very successful event and a memorable one too as all our students touched many aspects related to environment in their paintings on the topic “Save mother earth” They also depicted the ways to conserve nature, restore biodiversity etc. Amazingly, the enthusiasm among the participants was worth watching.

Teacher’s Day

5th Sep 2020

The teacher’s day celebration was held on 5th September at Nitte Pre University College. The programme began with a beautiful poem highlighting the importance of a Guru was recited by Ms. Swapna, Lecturer in Commerce. There was a meditation session for ten minutes, which brought peace and tranquility in the hearts of teachers.

The Principal, Ms. Jyothi Hitnal addressed the teachers with her inspiring words. She thanked all the teachers for their dedication and diligence.

The teachers were enthusiastic and excited for the celebration right from the beginning of the day. Later, all teachers gathered in the classroom for cake cutting ceremony, which was followed by fun-filled games, where the winners were given surprising gifts.

The teachers were surprised to see the students Mr. Tejas B.S, Mr. Abhay Surya and Mr. Karthik L of 2nd PU Commerce, who came with a cake even during this pandemic situation; it was a great moment for all of us.

Mr. Avinash Yagappa, Physical Director compered the programme, the programme concluded with vote of thanks.

Orientation Programme

29th Aug 2020

An orientation Programme for the newly admitted first PU students of Nitte Pre-university college was conducted on 29th August 2020.

The orientation began with a prayer. Ms. Pavithra, Lecturer in Economics welcomed the gathering.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest Mr.Rakesh Hosabettu, Lecturer, Govinda Dasa College, stressed the importance of proper learning planning. Having an idea of where they want to be in the next five to 10 years will get them started in the right direction he added.

In her brief address to the students, Ms. Jyothi Hitnal, Principal , Nitte PU College, told that College is the foremost fountain of knowledge students are exposed to and it gives them the chance to exhibit their talents.

Mr. Mahesh, Director, Varada Academy suggested the students to have bigger goals in life, he also told that determination and dedication will help them achieve their goals.

B.S Tejas of 2nd Commerce shared his opinion about the institution. Teaching and Non-teaching faculty members were present. The program was compeered by Ms. Chaithra, lecturer in English.

Guest Talk

Nitte Pre University College conducted virtual Guest talk on the topic “Life and Importance of Pre-University Education and Future Perspectives on 19th August 2020 at 1.30pm.

Speaking on the occasion the chief guest Mr. Rakesh Hosabettu, Lecturer, Govinda Dasa PU college, Suratkal told that difficulties in life test the patience of students and also taught the students the important life skills, which will make them face all hardships that the life gives.

His presentation was so well organized that students were absolutely inspired by that. He also told the importance of PU education in a students life. He gave some tips to overcome problems which are being faced by present generation children.

Welcoming the gathering Ms. Jyothi Hitnal, Principal, Nitte PU college emphasized the need to make best use of each and every minute so that they reach their destination, while the teachers help them achieve their goals.

Best out of Waste

26th July 2020

As we wanted to teach our students the importance of conserving the resources and to make the best use of waste things in life, “Best out of Waste” Online Competition was conducted on 26th July 2020. This habit of using old things to create beautiful crafts is needed now.

A flower vase, Wallet, Wall hangings, wall decorations, plant pot made of coconut shell, Diwali hanging Lamp, Notes holder, paper cycle, flowers made of ear buds, wall shelf and pen holders, hot air balloon, paper bags, photo frame, toys were very attractive.

Such activity helps in enhancing creativity and presentation skills. It also helps them realize the importance of recycling and reusing waste material available to them.

Vegetable Carving Competition

29th June 2020

NITTE Pre University College organized an online Vegetable carving competition for the second PU students on 29th June 2020. The competitions received an enormous response from our students.

The students were asked to form flowers or animals by carving the vegetables. The participants displayed stunning creative designs. It was challenging for us to decide to whom the prize should be given since all have done very well. There were attractive caricatures made out of vegetables.

The global pandemic of Covid-19 has forced all of us to stay indoors. This unprecedented situation has brought uncertainty in everyone’s life. Because of this all educational institutions have not been reopened.

But it is also a time to learn and upgrade our skills. Therefore Nitte Pre-University College organized an online State Level Essay and Painting competition for Pre University students from 6 th June 2020 to 13 June 2020. The subject matter for the competitions was Impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the environment and How nature is healing from pollution in lockdown period.

The result was announcement on 20 June 2020.

Yoga Day - 2020

Yoga is India’s greatest gift to the world as it promotes health and peace. It was a proud moment for our students to participate in an online Yoga session conducted by Heartfulness Institute, Bangalore in collaboration with Ministry of Ayush(MoA) and United Nations Information Office as a part of International Day of Yoga on 21st June 2020.

This year the theme was " Yoga at home and Yoga with family" SwamyRamdev taught 21 Yoga Asanas, which will help us understand Yoga deeply. He even shared 21 Yoga mysteries that will help us get to know the art form deeply.

The U.N declared June 21, 2015 as the 1st International Day of Yoga after a record of 175 countries endorsed the resolution which noted “ The importance of individuals and populations making healthier choice and following lifestyle patterns that foster good health” Students of 2nd PUC performed yoga postures at home. They also understood the importance of Yoga and Meditation in everyday life. Students also learnt that Yoga plays great role in improving concentration and overall health.

MEDITATION – HEARTFULNESS INSTITUTE

As we all know meditation provides peace of mind. It improves concentration. Meditation not only helps elderly people but it is very helpful to students as well.

Heartfulness institute&shri Ramachandra mission Bangalore organized a three days meditation session from January 27th to 29that 9:00 am to 10:00am in our college. We invited Sri.ParthaSarathy and Smt.Revathi to conduct the session. Our students actively participated in three days’ session and made it a huge success.Every day, students are bombarded with distractions that can keep them away from concentrating on the work they need to do. Meditation helped them to avoid distractions that promotes living in the present and focusing on what’s going on right now.

Three days’ meditation session included different concepts on each day.

First day session was on Inner Peace through Meditation,second day sessionwas on Rejuvenation, and third day session was on Connect with Inner-self.

The three days’ session benefited students with relaxation techniquesto overcome stress during exams.The precious time spent in meditation taught our children the value of peace in lifeand the benefits of these practices can also trickle into their academic lives.

Farewell Report

Nitte Pre University College organized farewell party on 27th January 2010 in the college activity Hall where the students and staff bid adieu to the Students of 2019-2020 Batch at a grand farewell function.

Students of first year grandly welcomed the outgoing students by presenting them a smiley and a greeting card and a group photo of college as a token of love and appreciation. The celebrations commenced with the lighting of the Lamp by the chief guest, Prof. Francis Borgeo, Former Prof at St Joseph College, Bengaluru, which was followed by the prayer.

Speaking on the occasion the Chief Guest motivated the students to achieve greater heights in life and also told the students to be enthusiastic in life in order to succeed in life.

Speaking on the occasion the Principal MsJyothiHitnal wished the students to pass with flying colors in their final exams, which was then followed by a power point presentation that threw fun and added life to the event

Later the program was followed with the award ceremony. Awards were given to the seniors for their academic excellence

Principal MsJyothiHitnal, presented mementoes the toppers. Later, the outgoing students shared their experiences from the past two years which was followed by a cake-cutting ceremony and a delicious lunch for all the students and teachers.

The auditorium was set ablaze with lots of cultural programs organized by the juniors. The first year students gave a scintillating song and dance performance. The valedictory function turned out to be nostalgic, fun and excitement for the students.








Sports Day

Nitte Pre University College celebrated its Annual Sports Day on 18th December 2019 with great zeal and excitement on the sprawling grounds of the college.The much awaited day was filled with fervor and excitement.

The day began with the speech by the Principal MsJyothiHitnal, speaking on the occasion she laid emphasis on the importance of sports in students’ life. Which was followed by oath taking ceremony, being administered by the Physical Director MrAvinash.

Students took part in different events including Tug of war, Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Cricket, Football, Volleyball, throw ball, Race and Relay.

At the end of the day, students departed with a clear smile on their faces as the Red House emerged as champions. It was a day filled with sportsmanship, enthusiasm and memories to cherish.

Mr Bhuvan S Gowda and MsJahnaviof 2nd Commerce won the best athlete awards. The Principal congratulated the winners and wished them the best for their future endeavors.

A visit to Wonderla Amusement Park

16 November 2019

Nitte Pre University College organized a trip to Wonderla Amusement Park, on 16th, November, 2019.

Wonderla Amusement Park is located at Mysore Road in Bangalore. It is one of the largest and safest parks, offering 60+ exhilarating rides. The students assembled at the college campus at 7.30am and boarded the college bus at 8.00 am and headed towards the amusement park. Since it was a two hours journey the students enjoyed themselves by singing and dancing on the way and. We reached the destination at 10.00 am.

The children enjoyed the day with great zeal. They played almost all the thrill rides and water games. It was a day, which was worth spending at park, brought beautiful memories in their life.

By 9 a.m. the buses filled with energetic and enthusiastic students and teachers of grade 4, 5 and 6 set out for Wonderla, on the most awaited day of the year. The weather was pleasant. By 10a.m. we reached the tour destination. We experienced a warm hearted welcome from the management of wonderla. They even guided us and informed us about the safety precautions to be taken.

The students changed into their swimming attire and dived into the clean water. They splashed and completely drenched themselves. They even enjoyed the breathtaking awesome water slides and crazy rides such as Mini Pirate Ship, Kiddies Wheel, Mini Top Spin etc., at about 1.00 p.m. the students had their lunch and relished the ice-cream offered by the management of the park. At about 3.15 p.m. we boarded the buses and reached the school premises by 4.30 p.m. The students were tired but rejuvenated.

Overall it was an excellent and memorable experience.




A Visit to Mother Dairy

11 November 2019

Nitte Pre University College organized a visit to Mother Dairy on 11th, November 2019. Mother dairy is one of the largest milk company in Asia. We reached the factory at 9am. The children were given a warm welcome by Mr.Narendra.

Mr.Narendra gave detailed information and guided the students about the work culture, timings, variety of training programmes etc.

It was a very informative and a productive day for the students. They gained a lot of knowledge. The guide clarified the doubts of the children raised regarding the milk processing and packaging. After the visit to factory, children were given mother dairy ice cream. Children were also given opportunity to share their opinion and experience of the visit.

Report on Meditation

As we all know meditation provides peace of mind. It improves concentration. Meditation not only helps elderly people but it is very helpful to students as well.

Heartfulness institute& shri Ramachandra mission Bangalore organized a one day “Dhyanotsav programme” on November 2nd at Banglore at Heartfulness center,lakshmipura cross.

Being invited, we took our students to attend it, though most of the students don’t really appreciate the idea of meditation since they have been completely manipulated by modern technology and materialistic world.

As we entered the hall, the cleanliness and calmness caught our attention. There were variety of programmes on specific themes. They conducted some fun-filled activities. The programme concluded with meditation for 30 minutes.

The precious time spent at Dhyanotsav taught our children the value of peace in life. The children learnt the importance of brotherhood, harmony and nobility in life.

Essay writing competition was conducted by Electoral literacy club on 24th October 2019 at Nitte PU College. Main motive of conducting this competition is to bring awareness about importance of voting among students. Around 25 students had actively participated in the competition. All the participants gave wings to their knowledge and opinion.

One Day workshop

23 October 2019

A One day workshop on “Awaken your inner potential” was organized by Nitte Pre University College on 23rd October 2019 in its campus. The main objective of the Workshop was to familiarize students with their inner potential and how to overcome stress related issues. The programme also aimed to teach students to understand their true potential, so that they face all the hardships positively in order to function in professional and social settings effectively.

The workshop started with an inaugural session and was inaugurated by the guest speaker Dr Sarvamangala Khanapuri, Spiritual scientist and Hypnotherapist by lighting the lamp, which was followed by a melodious prayer by Ms Prathyusha and Ms Maitri Bhat.

Ms Jyothi Hitnal, the Princiapl delivered the welcome address of the inaugural session and greeted the guest with a sapling. Speaking on the occasion the Principal Ms Jyothi Hitnal focused on the importance of the workshop and how the students will be benefitted. We have various powers inside us, the power of words, power of thinking, power of feeling but they are neither awakened not known, and such workshops will make us realize what we really are, she added.

The session began with some varying activities and concluded with daily affirmation that the students have to practice daily morning when they wake up and before they go to bed.

The workshop gave the students confidence and courage. Their mind was filled with positive, nurturing and healing thoughts. The children also understood the power of meditation and subconscious mind.

The guest speaker was felicitated on the occasion. The session ended with a vote of thanks by Ms Pavithra, Lecturer in Economics.

Inter school competition

19 October 2019

On 19th OCTOBER 2019 Nitte Pre University College organized “TARANGA” an Inter-school competition to develop harmony and healthy environment among the schools in its premises.

The occasion was graced by the chief guest Dr. Sandhya Ravi, Principal, Nitte School of Fashion Technology and Interior Design. The Principal Ms Jyothi Hitnal greeted the guest with a sapling. The divergent events began after the inauguration ceremony by the chief guest.

Speaking on the occasion the chief guest told that the education should go beyond the four classroom walls. The children should be exposed to exhibit their extraordinary skills and talents and “TARANGA” is an example for it. The children who are the young minds of today and the responsible citizens of tomorrow should be given enough opportunity to succeed in life, she added.

Speaking on the occasion the Principal Ms Jyothi Hitnal congratulated every student participant for their participation. She also thanked the student volunteers for their team work.

250 students from different schools participated in the competitions. The competitions were meant only for high school students.

Vivekananda Vidhya vardhaka High school, Hesaraghatta won the overall trophy.

The day was a great experience in the life of students. In short “TARANGA”was a grand success by the efforts of teachers and 100 student volunteers.

We are thankful to all the institutional heads, teachers and students, for taking part in the competitions and making it a grand success. We are sure that such divergent activities will leave behind a lasting impression in the minds of the young participants. Indeed, it was a proud moment to cherish. The energy and vitality of all the participants were commendable.

Teachers’ Day Celebration

20 September 2019

Nitte Pre University College celebrated Teachers’ Day with great fun and enthusiasm on 20th September 2019. The day began with a prayer by 2nd PU students. The programme was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by the Principal Ms Jyothi Hitnal, which was followed by a speech by Syeda Ayesha Farzin of 1st Commerce, on the importance of teachers and the contribution of Dr S Radhakrishan. Students performed a scintillating cultural show to denote their love and respect for teachers. They also entertained teachers by arranging fun games for them.

As a mark of respect for the tireless efforts of the teachers and for their exemplary contribution, the students presented the gifts as a token of respect and love. This was followed by cake cutting ceremony.

All teachers enjoyed and appreciated the program. Program concluded with vote of thanks.

Onam Celebration

Onam, the traditional and most significant festival of Kerala, was celebrated in great fervor at Nitte Pre University College in its campus on 19th September 2019. It is a harvest festival celebrated all over the state by people of all communities.

The children were told the significance and the legend of Onam. Together with the teachers, the children decorated a Pookalam (Rangoli) with fresh flower petals and beetle leaves. Diyas were lit and placed upon the Poolakalam, giving an almost spiritual ambience to the occasion. The teachers were traditionally attired in Kerala kodi sarees.

Nitte Pre University College celebrated Ethnic day on 30 th Aug 2019 in its campus. Such a stupendous day it was. It was a day filled with fun and frolic.

The most glorious phase of one’s life is the college life. An ample of opportunity this life gives at this stage. Such programmes refreshes students minds and make the children find essence of their life and discover what they really are.

The students made the day more colorful by wearing traditional attire. Ethnicity and richness of Indian culture was replaced by so called modernity. India is a land of unity in diversity, where we find various cultures, races, Languages and religions. And we are proud to have a rich cultural heritage and distinctiveness. It’s our responsibility to maintain its unique feature. Such programmes remind us of our rich culture.

The programme extended with the fashion show in the amphitheatre and we had 200 participants walking on the ramp. The response from the students was overwhelming.

The day was meant for the students. It was organized by the students and for the students. With great care and preparation the student Council organized the programme. Ms. Supriya and Ms Sanjay entertained the students with fun filled games. Ms. Shireen Louvina of 2 nd Science and Mr. Nithin Cyrus of 2 nd Commerce were the host of the programme.

Mr. Sanjay of 1st Science made the day brighter with his anchoring skills. He made the audience smile and laugh and made them realize that a day without laughter is a day wasted.

Jhanavi of 2 nd Commerce won Ms. elegant 2019 and B.S Tejas won Mr. elegant 2019 award.

Ms Jyothi Hitnal, Principal appreciated the organizers and students for making the day a grand success. She also congratulated the winners.

Report On Drawing and Clay Modeling

29 August 2019

Ganesha is one of the best known and widely worshipped as the god of wisdom, prosperity and good fortune, traditionally invoked at the beginning of any new venture. To promote artistic excellence Nitte Pre University College organized a skillful event on 29th August 2019. The competitions on clay modeling and drawing attracted scores of students to be involved in such divergent activities.

Both the competition had the same topic. The children presented clay models and drawings on the topic “Ganesha idol”.

As we all know such activities make the students a better learner and a better thinker. The students actively participated in both the competitions. All the participants gave wings to their imagination through their skills. Winners will be given further recognition during the college day celebrations.

Rangoli Competition

Nitte Pre – University College organized Rangoli Competition on Friday the 26th July 2019 in its campus. During this festive occasion the students participated in this event with great enthusiasm and put together their artistic and creative skills. Certainly the day was filled with great enthusiasm.

It is believed that Rangoli brings good luck. Such competitions also remind our children of aesthetic sense and of our rich culture.

The result was announced the next day of the competition. The first prize won by Archana & Harshitha S.N of 2nd PU Commerce and second place bagged by Rakshitha & Preethi G of 1st Science “A” Batch.

The Principal MS Jyothi Hitnal congratulated the participants and the winners for their active participation and encouraged them to indulge themselves in such divergent activities.



Face Painting Competition

As we all know a student’s social life is as important as their academic life, for their development. Education should go beyond the four classroom walls; it should be more than just books. Though there is much pressure on the students to get high grades but if the student has to be sportive and bold and if they have to face life situation, marks alone will not help him.

Here at Nitte, we make sure that the child participates in curricular and extracurricular activities, so that we try our best in making this young world a better place. We have been conducting divergent activities for the overall growth of our students.

Face painting competition was organized on 17th July 2019 at Nitte Pre University College. The student artists painted their models unleashing their hidden potential. The participation from the students was overwhelming and made this event a grand success. They came out with their artistic best and creative ideas. This event created an aura of excitement and festivity in the campus. The theme for the competition was “Joker Face”.

Among the winners, on the first position were 1st PU COM “B” section students Kusuma S.M. & Chaithra A. and on the second position were Mithun N. & Vinay K Gowda of 2nd PU COM and on the third position were 1)Inara Raiman & Kashvi R. Madhurkar of 1st SCIENCE “B” BATCH 2) Jhanavi V. & Ananya A. of 2nd Commerce.




Freshers Day

29th June 2019

Nitte Pre University College celebrated Freshers Day on 29th June 2019 in its campus. The day was marked as a memorable day in the life of first year PU students.

The new comers were formally welcomed into Nitte Family. The day was marked by the presence of esteemed guests Dr. H. C. Nagaraj – Principal NMIT, Dr. Sandhya Ravi – Principal, Nitte School of Fashion and Interior Design and Ms Sandhya Singh – Principal, Nitte International School and Ms. Jyothi Hitnal Principal –NITTE PU College.

The celebration commenced with the traditional lamp lighting, which was followed by prayer. Ms. Jyothi Hitnal – Principal, Nitte PU College welcomed the dignitaries. The guests of the day were introduced. Dr. H. C. Nagaraj, addressing the students guided them to have dedication and patience. In his speech, where he spoke about hard work, having a firm goal, aptitudes which will make a student reach his destiny.

Speaking on the occasion Dr. Sandhya Ravi told that every student must possess confidence and sportive thinking. She also said that this life has been given by god, each person is unique, and each person has different ideas and thoughts. It is our responsibility to respect others, our life has to be simple and humble, she added.

Addressing the newcomers the Principal Ms Jyothi Hitnal told that our life is a circle of love, hate, fear and happiness and one has to use the mind in such a way that we he can find his path discovering himself. She also encouraged students to know and understand the components of happiness.

The inauguration of student council and the swearing in ceremony of the newly elected members of the council for the year 2019-2020 was also held, followed by demonstration of the oath to the council members and they adhered to the duties and responsibilities rendered to them.

The day was an opportunity for the students to exhibit their talents in the cultural programmes which was reverberated with dances, mime, skit, songs and musical instrument. The afternoon session saw all the students taking part in the fun –filled games which included bomb in the city, Music chair, etc

The programme concluded with vote of thanks. The day was a memorable event for the newcomers and that would remain evergreen in their hearts.






YOGA DAY 2019

21st June 2019

Nitte Pre University College celebrated Yoga day with great enthusiasm on June 21st 2019 in its campus. Since its inception in the year 2015, June 21st is celebrated as The International Day of Yoga all over the world.

Students of 1st and 2nd PU performed various aasanas followed by mediation. Warm up exercises were taken and all the students performed sitting and standing aasanas.

The Chief Guest Ms Navithra D, Yoga instructor guided the children about the importance of Yoga in everyday life. She demonstrated different kinds of Yoga postures. Ms Jyothi Hitnal, the Principal addressing the students asked them to practice Yoga and Exercise to have a healthy and long life.

She also said that practicing yoga will help in concentrating. Being students it’s their duty to keep their health better, which will surely help our students achieve a better life, physically, mentally and spiritually as well she added.

The yoga day celebration concluded with vote of thanks by Jyothi lakshmi, lecturer in Biology. Teaching and non teaching staff were present.

Nitte Pre University College conducted student council election on 20th June 2019 in the college premises. To imbibe and inculcate among the students the vision, mission and values of the college it was necessary to have a student council election. It also aimed at academic programmes, maintaining discipline, usage of library facilities, and other student service facilities.

Orientation Programme

7th June 2019

An Orientation Programme was organized for the students of 1 st year Pre University at Nitte Pre University College On 7 th June 2019 at the college activity hall.

The programme commenced with lighting of the lamp, which was followed by prayer. The programme was inaugurated by the chief guest Mr Gururaja Paramesha, Cyber Security Engineer, DXC Technology. The Chief Guest of the programme addressed the newly joined students. In his address to the students, he said that dedication, patience and perseverance give success. A student has to be sportive, bold and creative, so that he could be able to face any hardships in his life. He emphasized that the success in any aspect of life is enacted by working from the bottom of the heart. He also motivated the students to have determination.

Addressing the gathering Mr. Mahesh Kumar, Proprietor, Varda Academy told that each student is unique, each moment is important and suggested them to focus on their studies more and to have inspiration from great leaders of the world and become a better citizen.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms Jyothi Hitnal, Principal Nitte PU College, told that the life teaches us a lot of things in life, students have to accept whatever comes in their way and try to do their best. She also told that students can seek the help of the teachers so that the best could be done for the overall development of the students and to build a strong foundation for their glorious future.

Environment Day Celebration

4th June 2019

World environment day is celebrated on 4 th June every year to raise global awareness to take positive environmental actions to protect nature and the plane earth. It is run by the United Nation Environment Program (UNEP). The main aim of observing this day is to change attitude towards environment and advocate partnership between each human being and society to ensure a safe future.

Nitte PU College celebrated the World Environment Day on 4 th June 2019 with full vigor and enthusiasm. The celebration started with planting a sapling in the college campus, continued with a procession, displaying placards with a message to protect the environment. Supriya of 2 st PUC Commerce presented a thought provoking speech on environment pollution

Our PUC students, guided by Mr. Shrinivas, Lecturer in Kannada, performed a street play about the mother earth and the nature’s fury in Mylappanahalli village. The villagers were enthusiastic and appreciated our team for the street play. Saplings were distributed to the villagers.

To make it really a beautiful planet we should try to enjoy the gifts of nature without accumulation and exploitation so that we can save the environment for a better future.



Saraswati Puja Celebration

22nd Feb 2019

Saraswathi Puja is commended to pay tribute to the Goddess of learning. Puja of Maa Saraswati, Goddess of Knowledge, was held on 22nd Feb 2019 at Nitte Pre- University College, Bengaluru. On the auspicious day of Saraswati Puja, the students and faculty gathered to seek the blessings of the goddess Saraswathi. The festival was graced with the presence of all the students, teaching and non teaching staff.

Goddess Saraswati is the fountain head of all learning and art forms. Students, professionals, artists, musicians and scholars worship Maa Saraswati seeking wisdom, and academic excellence. Saraswati Puja is a popular festival of students. As the annual exams were nearing, the students and the teachers prayed that they would get good result this year too.

The rituals were conducted by the Pandit who along with pooja, conveyed the importance of the day and the concept of worshiping Goddess of knowledge. The ritual was concluded by serving Prasad to everyone present.



VALEDICTORY FUNCTION

16th Feb 2019

NITTE PU College emotionally bid farewell to the final year students of 2018-19 batch at the valedictory function organised in the College campus on February 16th, 2019.

The function was organized by our First year students. The celebration began with the welcoming of the outgoing students, Guest of Honour for the day Sister Fatima Rajam -Principal of Sacred Hearts English Medium School, Silvepura , Ms Jyothi Hitnal –Principal of Nitte PU College and Mr. Anil Hegde - Administrative Officer. Students of first year grandly welcomed the outgoing students by presenting them a smiley and a gift as a token of love and appreciation. The celebrations commenced with the lighting of the Lamp and prayer.

Next, the Chief Guest addressed our students with an emotional yet inspiring speech which was then followed by a power point presentation that threw fun and added life to the event. The Chief Guest presented awards to seven students for their excellence in academic performance. Bhavani.V (II year science) and Pallavi H M (II year Commerce) were awarded the Best Academic Performer in the first place ,Tejaswini H P (II year science) and Srisha G (II year Commerce) in the second place.

Rajitha C H (II year science) and Anthony Edwin D (II year Commerce) received Best All-Rounder Award among girls and boys respectively. Kavya .K (II year Commerce) received Award for hundred percent attendance. Principal Ms Jyothi Hitnal, Mr. Anil Hegde and Teachers also presented mementoes to each outgoing students. Later, the outgoing students shared their experiences from the past two years which was followed by a cake-cutting ceremony and a delicious lunch for all the students and teachers.

The auditorium was set ablaze with lots of cultural programmes organised by the juniors. The first year girls gave a scintillating song and dance performance. The first year boys presented an incredible magic show and skit. To mark the end of the day, Mahesh, a Second year Commerce student played the DJ to which all the students danced to their feet.The valedictory function turned out to be nostalgic, fun and excitement for the students.






National Youth day

12th Jan 2019

Nitte Pre University College celebrated National Youth day on Jan 12 th 2019 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. In 1984 the government of India declared the day as the National Youth Day and since then the event is celebrated in India every year.

“Arise, Awake, and stop not until the goal is achieved, was the message given by Swami Vivekananda, who is one of the greatest men who have appeared in the world.

The celebration began with lighting the lamp. The speech at Chicago was told to the students by Mr.Shrinivas and also the thoughts of Swami Vivekananda were delivered. The Principal Ms Jyothi Hitnal shared a story of swami vivakananda’s childhood days that reminded the students to have patience, dedication and honesty. It also made them think that they have to work tirelessly for the betterment of the downtrodden, the needy and the poor so that they will find true meaning of life.

Chaitanya of 2 nd PCMB and Maitri Bhat of 1 st CEBA shared their views on the occasion, while the 1 st and 2 nd PUC students paid their heartfelt tribute to the great leader, who is an inspiration to all of us.

MEHENDI, VEGETABLE CARVING COMPETITION AND BEST OUT OF WASTE

1st Dec 2019

NITTE PU College aims at accomplishing holistic training methods for students overall development.

In keeping with this, the college organized a Mehendi , vegetable carving and Best Out Of Waste contest on December 1st, 2018 and 3rd ,2018 respectively. The competitions received an immense response when the first and second PU students participated with great vigor. The participants displayed stunning creative designs. Ananya.A, Supriya.R and Bhagya Mol of {I PU Commerce} secured First, Second and Third prize respectively in Mehendi competition Srilakshmi and Venkatesh of (I PU Science) grabbed First and Second prize in Vegetable carving BhagyaMol, Ananya.A of {I PU Commerce} and Rajitha {II PU Science} secured First, Second and Third prize respectively in Best Out Of waste.

The main intention of the competition was to impart practical learning applications to the students and to show case their creative talents in these competitions.








VIGNAN VAIBHAV – SCIENCE EXHIBITION.

A One –Day Science Exhibition “VIGNAN VAIBHAV” was held at the NITTE Pre – University college campus on November 30th , 2018. The event saw young enthusiastic students from Science as well as Commerce Department displaying fifty participatory exhibits comprising of innovative working models and still models.

On receiving invitation, four hundred and fifty students along with their teachers from different schools in and around Yelahanka had come to view the projects, which in turn proved to be a learning experience for them. The exhibition was organized to create the awareness of science and technology among the young generation.

The event was inaugurated by Mr. Chikka Hanumanthe Gowda – Director of Vivekananda VidhyaVardhaka High School, Hesarghatta, Mrs Anuradha – Administrator of Sai Shankara VidyaShala and Ms. Jyothi Hitnal - Principal of NITTE PU College. In keeping with the traditions of our college, the dignitaries lighted the lamp and inaugurated the event. The dignataries then visited each and every stall. The Chief Guest was impressed by the presentations made by our students. In his address he congratulated them and said, “Science can be experienced through practical ways. Teachers can make teaching more interesting by displaying working models and it is good to have these kinds of exhibitions regularly to encourage and motivate students so that they can become future scientists”.

Students from various departments such as physics, chemistry, maths Computer Science and humanities exhibited their live experiments with the help of posters and still models. The exhibits were indeed eye-openers on various themes and outstanding among them were: Hydraulic JCB, Magnetic lavation, free energy conversion, Clinometers, Age cards, Evolution of money, branches of Accountancy ,Rural development, Coin machine Water sporting machine, Rain water harvesting, Human circulatory and digestive system , stages of agriculture etc.

Demonstrations and explanations were given by the participants. There was also a quiz competition for the students. As a token of remembrance, the Chief Guest was presented a memento and a sapling.

It was an opportunity for all visiting students to benefit from various exhibits on display. This event provided a platform for the budding young students to express their creativity and promote scientific attitude.



Kabaddi Tournament

Nitte Pre University College has been receiving trophy after trophy for every sports season. Today dozens of trophies and medals sit in a corner of a room that shows our students skills and achievements in sports.

Nitte Pre University college Kabaddi team participated in the Kabaddi tournament held at Bapu Pre University College, Yashwantpura on 24th Nov 2018. A team of ten students represented our college, while 22 teams from different colleges took part in the sports event.

Our team captain Afrid unfailingly led the team to secure first place, while Bapu PU students secured 2nd place in the event. Our students were given a trophy and Rs 5000 cash prize. The students were accompanied by the physical Director Mr Avinash Yagappa.

A Picnic to Wonderla

20th Nov 2018

As the old saying goes “all work and no play make Jack a dull boy”, students need to get off from routine work, and then only they don’t feel that they have been manipulated completely.

Nitte Pre University College organized a picnic to Wonderla on 20th Nov 2018. A group of 52 students along with 5 teachers were taken to Wonderla. The team left Nitte Campus at 9am and reached the destination at 10.30am. The team spent almost 9 hours in the park, which gave them sufficient time to relax and play the water games.

On reaching the park, the children enthusiastically spent their time and the children didn’t even realize how fast time flew, Great exciting rides gave them confidence since one should have some guts to get into some of the rides specially high thrill rides, while all water rides anybody can take without any hassle. The teachers were delighted to learn that the students enjoyed the wonderful Wonderla trip. It was a day of relaxation and excitement for the students


Science Exhibition

Participation in the extracurricular activities is a passion. To be more optimistic and to have higher academic aspirations extracurricular activities are necessary. Science has a vital role in the development of a country. Science always reveals a new truth which enhances the student’s interest in science and technology.

To motivate the students toward science our students are being taken to different science related programs. One among them is “Chaithanya Taranga” a one day exhibition was organized by Nagarjuna Pre University College, Ramagondanahalli, Bengaluru on 3rd Nov 2018

Aman Ganapathi, Sanjith R and Anujith S Shetty of 2nd PUC Science presented “Robo Fire Extinguisher” in the exhibition. Fourteen Colleges and thirty five schools took part in the exhibition. Kiran Kumar, Lecturer in Physics accompanied the students. They presented a memento to the college and our students were given certificate of participation for their science project.

Yallappa Reddy, Director, Karnataka Principal of Conservation of Animal and Forestry was the chief guest. International sports person and Student motivator Arjun Devayya was present on the occasion. His explicit speech encouraged the students to indulge in extracurricular activities and to showcase their talents in such exhibitions, which give them a platform to strengthen their skills.

Sports Kabbadi

2nd Nov 2018

Nitte Pre University College Kabbadi team participated in an open state level sports meet “Sangama 2” on 2nd Nov 2018 organized by SSR Group of Institutions, Byrathi, Kyalasanahalli, Bengaluru.

Total sixteen college teams took part in the sports meet. Our Kabbadi team led by Afrid of 2nd Commerce won 2nd place and they were given a trophy with a cash prize of Rs 3000.

Our students are actively participating in the sports events which motivate the other children to inculcate sportive nature in them. Sports boost self-esteem, it teaches teamwork too. So that it is very essential in a student’s life and the award the students bring is a credit to the institution which makes us feel proud.

The management and the principal congratulated the winners for the award and wished them for their future endeavor.

On 22nd and 23rd of Oct 2018 Nitte Pre-University College hosted its 3rd annual sports meet. The much awaited annual sports day began with great zeal and excitement in a frolicsome atmosphere. The day began with an impressive performance and extraordinary participation from students.

As the old saying goes Sports build good habits, confidence, and discipline, they make players into community leaders and teach them how to strive for a goal, handle mistakes and cherish growth opportunities. It is true that Sports teaches us to know what it feels like to win and lose. Sports play an important role in inculcating the spirit of sportsmanship and fondness for sports in children.

Students of 1st and 2nd PUC competed in events including race, skipping race, long jump, high jump, etc. tug of war between the houses added exceptional enjoyment. The air was filled with cheering and tons of encouragement for the young athletes. A great interest was observed among the students. Before the events began, the names of the events and competitors were called out. The students participated in the modified track and field events, where several sports events such as high jump long jump, running race, shot put, volleyball, throw ball, badminton, Kabaddi etc took place.

As the budding athletes of our college began their journey in the play ground, the campus reverberated with the enthusiastic cheers from the spectators. The highly competitive events where the four houses (RED, BLUE, GREEN and YELLOW) eyed for the first place.

Next on schedule, prize distribution began. The merit and participation certificates to the winners were given away by the Principal and the teachers. Sagar B M from class 2nd PCMC and Harshitha D P of 1st CEBA were declared the best athletes of the meet. At the end of the day, students departed with a clear smile on their face as the red team emerged as the house champions.

The principal of this esteemed institution Ms Jyothi Hitnal thanked all the house mentors for their co-operation and advised the children to keep up their sportive spirit. It was a day filled with sportsmanship, enthusiasm and memories to cherish she added.

Sports play a vital role in life as it keeps us healthy and active. We can have healthy mind only when we have a healthy body. So it is important to motivate the students to participate in the sports activities and it is what we do at Nitte PU College Bangalore. Our enthusiastic students have been participating in various sports events.

Our students participated in Pre-University Intercollegiate sports tournament hosted by Dr.NSAM First Grade College, Yelahanka. NITTE PU college represented teams in Kabbadi, Volleyball and Cricket. The Kabaddi team was led by Manoj Kumar of IInd PUC Science. Cricket team was led by Sagar of IInd PUC Science and Volleyball team was led by Sharan of IInd PU Commerce.

The much awaited sports meet brought us pride that our students secured 2nd prize in Cricket and 3rd prize in Kabaddi respectively.

Our college teams were co-ordinated by the Physical Training Director, Mr.Avinash. The principal congratulated the all teams for their participation and performance in the sports event.

Intercollegiate Kabaddi tournament hosted by R.P.A first grade college, Rajajinagar on 21st Sept 2018 as a part of silver jubilee of R.P.A first grade college.

Nitte Pre University College boys participated with great zeal and excitement. The Kabaddi team captain Manjorkumar of 2nd Commerce enthusiastically led the team and they secured 2nd place in the event. Total ten teams took part in tournament. Kiran Kumar,formerCharman, ISRO distributed the prizes to the winners on valedictory programme on 29th Sept 2018. Our students received cash prize of Rs.3000.

The team was led by the physical director Mr.Avinash. The principal Ms Jyothi Hitnal congratulated the students for their active participation and told them to inculcate the sportive spirit in future too.


Creative Writing Competition

University of East Anglia has organized “Creative Writing Competition” for the students of standard 11 in 100 colleges across 10 cities in India.

The participants were informed to submit a piece of “creative writing” of between 800-1200 words, on one of the following topic areas: Climate change, Conservation, Development, Creative writing, Geosciences, Economics, Law, Media, Politics.

Nitte Pre University College students participated with excitement and eagerness. The essay competition was conducted in the college and the best 10 essays (six essays from 1st Science and 4 essays from 1st Commerce) were sent to the above university for the judgement. The results are awaited. All students will receive a certificate of participation from University of East Anglia.

This is the first ever competition that will reward winners with a special summer school course. The winners of the competition will receive a cash prize of Rs.18000/-, along with an all expense paid trip to the UEA International Summer School in 2019.

The Guru Shishya parampara is a gift of India to the world. Nitte Pre University College Celebrated Teachers’ Day with zeal and zest in the memory of Dr S Radhakrishnan, former president, philosopher and a renowned teacher himself.

Teaching is a very noble profession that shapes the character, caliber and future of an individual. The Teachers’ Day began with a prayer by 2nd PU students. The programme was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by the Principal Ms Jyothi Hitnal. After the inauguration, speech was delivered by first PU students on the importance of teachers and the contribution of Dr S Radhakrishan. This was followed by cultural programme where students sang, danced and entertained the teachers.

As a mark of respect for the tireless efforts of the teachers and for their exemplary contribution, the students presented the gifts as a token of respect and love. This was followed by cake cutting ceremony.

A drama performance was done by PUC boys on the theme “A parent is a child’s first teacher”. The excitement of the students during the programme was appreciated, the college atmosphere itself made the teachers feel proud being teachers.

Sanjith Reddy of 2nd PU science surprised the audience by imitating the teachers. The fun filled imitation mesmerized everyone. It was a gifted day for the teachers by the students. The programme was concluded with vote of thanks.

Participation in Kabaddi tournament

Recently Nitte PU College Students participated in the Kabbadi tournament held at Yashas Pre University College, Chikkabanavara.. The boys Kabbadi was held on 18th August and the girls Kabaddi was on 19 th August 2018. Total ninety teams (sixty –boys team, thirty-girls team) took part in the tournament. It was a ten minute duration match.

Their sportive spirit was appreciated by the college staff. Their enthusiasm was indeed an inspiration to other students to participate in the sports events further.

Cooking Without Fire Competition for Teachers

Cooking without fire competition was conducted for the teachers on Aug 04, 2018 at Nitte Pre-University College. All the teachers participated with full zeal and enthusiasm in the competition. Each participant presented variety items in the competition. Each team had two participants.

Dishes were judged on nutrition and taste by esteemed judges. The teachers exhibited their culinary skills and prepared nutritious and healthy dishes with fruits, vegetables, sprouts and fiber rich cereals. The participants coined very interesting title for their dishes and presented them in an artistic and aesthetic manner.

Judges were overawed by the efforts of the participants and results were announced amidst tough competition. First position was secured by Ms Jyothi Laxmi and team closely followed by Mr Ravikiran and Ms Sahana team which bagged the second position respectively.

The event provided a platform for the teachers to foster their creativity and decision making skills and also helped them explore their hidden talents and discover new areas of interest.

Report on Drawing Competition

To bring out the creativity and the artistic talents among the students a drawing competition was held by Nitte Pre-university College on 27th July 2018. All the students enthusiastically participated in the competition and proved that, they not only excel academically but also they are talented in their creative presentation.

The specimen for the competition was given to the students on the spot. Judgment was done on the basis of neatness, crops and composition, shading and uniqueness in the presentation. The first prize was bagged by Shireen Louvina of 1st PUC Science, 2nd prize won by Shreelakshmi of 1st PUC Science and 3rd prize shared by Pavan kumar of 2nd PUC Science and Pallavi of 2nd PUC Commerce.

Freshers Day is a welcome party to the new entrants. Continuing with the tradition , NITTE PU College celebrated Freshers Day this year on 25th June, 2018. The main aim of this day is to give a warm welcome to the new comers and to mingle with senior students.

The day was marked by presence of esteemed guests Dr. N.R. Shetty – Chancellor Of Central University, Kalaburagi and Chairman of NITTE PU College, Dr. H. C. Nagaraj – Principal NMIT and Ms. Jyothi Hitnal Principal –NITTE PU College.

The celebrations commenced with the traditional lamp lighting by the distinguished guests followed by prayer and welcome address. The guests of the day were introduced. The event started with the blessings of Honorable Chairman Dr. N.R. Shetty delivering an inspirational speech where he spoke about culture, attitude, parent’s responsibilities and the role of teachers in imparting moral values to the students. He also stressed about patriotism and discipline among students so that they can become good future citizens. Dr. H. C. Nagaraj and Principal Ms Jyothi Hitnal motivated the students through their speech about hard work and success.

The highlight of the day was the active participation of senior students as well as newcomers who displayed their talents in the cultural programmes which was reverberated with dances, skit, magic show, songs and musical instrument.

The afternoon session saw all the students taking part in the fun –filled games which included bursting the balloons, ping pong ball game, paper cup pyramid and biscuit on forehead.

The programme concluded with vote of thanks. The day was a memorable event for the newcomers as they brimmed with confidence for the coming year ahead.

Yoga has always been an integral part of health and physical education. To bring awareness about yoga and its benefits Nitte Pre University College celebrated Yoga Day as a part of International Yoga day in the college premises on June 21 by organizing a special yoga session, followed by Yoga Manthra.

It was surely a big day for the students as they proudly presented yoga aasanas. The main attraction of the day was the performance by Sanjith R Reddy of 2nd PCMC who displayed different Yoga postures like Shreeshasana, Padma Mayurasana, Chakrasana, Shalabhasana, Dhanurasana etc

To imbibe the value of discipline, to achieve healthy body and mind and to attain higher states of awareness yoga must be practiced. Over the last few decades, there has been an upsurge in the popularity of Yoga. Yoga aims to create perfect harmony between your mind, body, and spirit. It is said in the yoga science this pranayama cleanses 72000 nadis or channels in the body. It helps purify the blood and the respiratory systems. These points and importance of Yoga in one’s life and its benefits were conveyed to students.

Sooryanamaskara and Pranayama presentation by the students were magnetic. Principal, Teaching and Non teaching staff were present and guided the children in the yoga postures. It was concluded with meditation.

FIRST PU ORIENTATION PROGRAM

To provide a welcoming atmosphere for students and families to meet faculty at NITTE, an Orientation program for the 1st PU batch was organized on 6th June at Nitte Pre University College, Bengaluru. The chief guest inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp which was followed by the prayer.

The chief guest of the programme Mrs Rajalxmi , former principal, DR NSAM PU COLLEGE, Bengaluru, addressed the newly joined students and their parents. Speaking on the occasion Mrs Rajalaxmi, said, Students have to make their minds to work on their goals. A lost time is lost forever, so it’s their duty to make best use of time, they have to live every moment and a positive attitude literally makes our brain work better and it is more important than IQ as it is a better predictor of our success she added.

In her address to the students Mrs Jyothi Hitnal, The principal, Nitte PU College, gave detailed report to make the parents aware about the college system and its achievements. She also has thrown a light on disciplinary guidelines rules and regulations.

Shrinivas Reddy, Director, DSR academy gave brief introduction about DSR academy about intensive training for students who aspire to write CET, JEE and NEET . Mr Shankar Bhat, parent representative shared his opinion on this occasion.

A PowerPoint presentation about the college was shown which included various facilities available at campus. Rules and regulations were read out in both English and Kannada. Mrs. Haseena delivered vote of thanks.

After the formal part of the programme an interaction session was held in presence of parents.

NITTE PU College celebrated World Environment Day on June 5, 2018 with great gusto. Students brought many varieties of plants and planted it in the campus garden along with Principal and teachers. Later, a walkathon on environment awareness was organized by students and teachers with placards spreading the message “Say No To Plastic”, “Save Earth and Save Life” and to protect our environment from further derogation. Students visited the Government Pre-Primary School, Mylappanahalli and planted plants and saplings along with the Government Pre Primary School Principal. They also presented plants to nearby houses. All the students took active part in the event and ensured the safe future of our planet.

A VISIT TO SCIENCE EXHIBITION - IISc

10 March 2018

An Open Day Science Exhibition was organised at Indian Institute of Science (IISc) to commemorate ‘Founder’s Day’, Jamsetji Tata’s birth anniversary which is celebrated as Founder’s Day.

With an aim to instil scientific temper, the students of NITTE PU College were taken to Open Day Science exhibition at IISc, Malleswaram on March 10th, 2018. Several experiments and live demonstrations were organised by research students on Maths, Physics, Organic Chemistry and bio-technology. Students were taken to each department across the sprawling campus where researchers explained various experiments through live demonstrations such as production of electricity using vegetables, production of waves, bending of glass and display of archaeological tools like knapped flint stone tool, bronze spatula and metal mirror. Quizzes and games related to mathematics were also organised by the students. The Aerospace Department’s drones at the airfield, “The Clean Room” of Nano Sciences Department and Centre for Product Design and Manufacturing were the main attractions.

The science exhibition, taken as a whole was very informative and applicable for the students to understand the power of science and new technologies so that they can contribute to the field of science in future.

In keeping with the customs of NITTE Institutions, the students, staff and management of the NITTE PU College bid adieu to the final year students of 2017-18 batch, at a farewell function held here at the College campus.

The function, which was organized by our 1st year students, turned out to be a memorable event for all of us. The event began with the welcoming of the outgoing students by bursting glitter-dipped balloons. Next, the Principal, Ms. Jyothi Hitnal addressed the gathering with an emotional yet motivational speech, which was then followed by an inspiring video presentation. The outgoing students shared their experiences from the past two years. There was a cake-cutting ceremony, and later in the day, everybody gathered together to enjoy a cultural programme organised by the juniors. The Administrative officer of NITTE PU College, Mr. Anil Hegde presented mementoes to the outgoing students of final year. To mark the end of the day, each outgoing student was gifted a T-shirt and diary by the juniors.

The valedictory function was as eventful as it was nostalgic for the students. In the hope that the parting students carry with them the spirit of learning from their college lives into all their future endeavours, here’s all of us at NITTE PU college wishing them all the very best.

Annual Sports Day

The much awaited Sports day was held on 13th December 2017 at Susheela Alva Sports Complex. Sports day commenced with athletics and concluded with Folk games. Students participated enthusiastically and energetically .They entered into the spirit of competition. It was their day. Even the teachers actively participated in every part of the competition and rendered their support and guidance to students.

The highlights of the Sports day were:

  • 2. Team games (volleyball, Basketball, Throw ball, football & Cricket)
  • 3. Indoor games (Chess, Carrom & Shuttle badminton)

  • In this entire sports competition students achieved 73 Gold medals, 66 Silver medals and 11 Bronze medals. Indeed the event was highly successful with the support and co-operation of college management, Principal, Teaching staff & Non Teaching staff and most important the students.

    Christmas is the season of joy, of holiday greetings exchanged and of gift- giving. The Christmas celebrations took place in our college campus on 23rd December, 2017. Prior to the celebrations a week before, students put up Christmas star, tree and decorated their classroom with Christmas chart and Santa Claus. The celebrations began with Christmas carols followed by cake cutting by students and staff.

    The X’ Mas celebrations was a warm and festive event wherein all the students and staff were completely spellbound with the Christmas gratification and the day was called off by exchanging Christmas and New Year wishes.

    NITTE PU College celebrated Kannada Rajyotsava on November 29, 2017. The Guest of Honor for the occasion was Dr. Narappa Someshwar – Host of Quiz Programme "Thatt antha heli" in Chandana Vahini Channel and Dr. H.C.Nagaraj - Principal (NMIT). The programme commenced with lighting of the Lamp followed by prayer and speech given by the Chief Guest and other dignitaries. Dr. Narappa Someshwar highlighted the importance of motherland (Karnataka) and Kannada language, culture etc. He mentioned the value and importance of Parents and teachers in a student’s life. He quoted some lines from Ramayana to explain the greatness of our motherland. He also stressed to speak Kannada fluently without any grammatical errors in order to celebrate Kannada Rajyotsava.

    Dr. H.C. Nagaraj also laid emphasis on the priority of Kannada language. He recounted that Kannada language has a history of more than 2000 years and has received eight times the prestigious Jnanpith Award.

    The programme was followed by cultural events like Fashion Show, Kannada songs, dance and speech performed by students and teachers. It was fun and frolic and memorable event for everyone.

    The students of first and second year along with their teachers took a much – needed break from their academics with a college trip to Wayanad. The trip which began on 13th October, 2017 was marked by enthusiastic participation by the students who were all excited to explore the beautiful scenic and adventure – filled spots in Wayanad. They spent their time visiting spots like Edakkal caves, Soochipara waterfalls on the first day. The second day, they visited Karlad Lakes, Banasura Sagar Dam, Meenmutti waterfalls. In the night, all of them were treated to some enchanting music played by a DJ.

    The students and the accompanying teachers enjoyed the trip thoroughly. They also visited Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary in Mysore on their way back from Wayanad. They reached Bangalore on 16th October. Overall it was a successful trip with so many cherished memories to savour.

    A talk on Humanism conducted by NIVE was presented by Shri Santhosh Hegde for the students on 20th September 2017. He stressed the importance of Humanity which is very necessary for the smooth functioning of society and should be taught in every school as a part of curriculum. He urged the young generation to create corruption free society and to adopt it in every stage and walk of life. Humanity is necessary for good governance and development of Country. He also interacted with students. The seminar was well informative and useful for the students.

    WORKSHOP ON MIRACLE MIND

    18 September 2017

    A workshop on Sub- Conscious Mind (Miracle Mind) was organized by NITTE PU College on 18th September, 2017. It was conducted by Dr. Sarvamangala Khanapuri - Spiritual Scientist , Counselor, Hypnotherapist & Yoga Therapy Consultant and also the CEO of “BLISS” Mind Apps, Bangalore.

    The purpose of the workshop was to improve the concentration level in the students through meditation that helps to get rid of stress. Dr. Sarvamangala spoke about concentration and visualization to students to come out with flying colours in their exams.

    To enhance the creativity of students puzzle activity was conducted. To improve the communication skills students were given the task to speak on any topic of their interest which enhanced their confidence .At the end of the event Dr. Sarvamangala Khanapuri was felicitated by the Principal Mrs Jyothi Hitnal. The workshop was very motivating and useful for our students.

    Bangalore North District level girls Kabaddi 2017 – 18 was conducted at Susheela Alva Sports Complex - NITTE P U College on September 25, 2017. Twenty- eight teams participated from various P U colleges from North Bangalore. All the teams participated in the true spirit of the game. Nitte PU girl’s team played well to reach the semi-finals.

    The final match was played between MES Girls College and Government Girls Pre- University College with full competitive spirit.

    Finally Government Girls PU College, Malleswaram emerged as the winners.

    We celebrate Teachers’ day every year throughout the country on 5th September. This day is dedicated to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan – the second President of India, a great academic philosopher, and one of the most well known diplomats, a scholar and a teacher. As a tribute to this great teacher, his birthday has been observed as teachers' day.

    Students of NITTE PU College celebrated Teachers' Day amidst much amusement and excitement decorating their classrooms and presenting bouquet and gifts to every teacher. A Teachers’ day cake was also cut by the teachers. Students conducted games where teachers were given a topic and they had to act on it. Students delivered speeches expressing their gratitude and appreciation for their teachers on this day. It was an unforgettable moment for the entire teaching faculty.

    Onam Celebrations

    Onam is the biggest and the most important festival of the state of Kerala. It is a harvest festival and is celebrated with joy and enthusiasm. It is the New Year day for Malayali Hindus.

    Our College celebrated Onam with great splendour. The celebrations commenced with setting up of an attractive floral decoration (pookalam) in the reception area by our students as well as our teaching staff.

    Impressive designs and artistic creativity were displayed in the floral decoration which turned out to be mesmerizing and took everyone into the festivity mood. . Onam festival is not just a festival to cherish, but a moment to reincarnate a past of prosperity and goodness.

    “ To a Thirsty man, a drop of water is worth more than a sack of gold ”

    “Rally For Rivers” is a breakthrough campaign launched by Isha Foundation to save the Life lines of this country. The campaign was launched by Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev.

    This is a nationwide movement to revive India’s dying rivers. This event is an effort to make everyone aware about the crisis our rivers are facing.

    NITTE PU College observed “Rally For Rivers” campaign on September 1, 2017. Our Students created placards and posters on “Rally For Rivers. Students as well as teachers showed their support by actively participating in the walkathon from our college till Mylappanahalli village and also observed the day by wearing blue coloured clothes.

    Workshop on Chemistry

    21 & 22 August 2017

    Jawaharlal Nehru Centre For Advanced Scientific Research organised a workshop for Second year PUC Science students on Chemistry Experiments using College Chemistry Kit on the following days 21-8-2017 and 22-8-2017 at C.N.R.Rao Hall of Science, Bangalore.

    The programme commenced with highly informative speeches on recent development in Nano Technology delivered by Mr. BalaSubramanyan (Scientist - Nano Technology, JNCASR) and speech on Medicinal Chemistry.

    Students participated with great enthusiasm and conducted various experiments designed for appreciating and understanding the principles in Thermodynamics – Galvanic cell and Electrolysis, preparation of Aspirin and estimation of Vitamin C in vegetables and Fruits.

    Students got an opportunity to interact with the lecturers and also visit Prof. C.N.R.Rao’s archives. Group discussions were conducted where our students participated actively in it.

    The Science outreach Programme was informative, interesting, educational and motivating for the students.

    NITTE PU College celebrated Independence Day on August 15, 2017 at our school campus. All the students assembled at nine ‘O clock a.m. The celebration started off with flag hoisting by the Principal. The students sang patriotic songs followed by speech on India’s freedom by primary and senior students. Mr. Ravi Kiran –Commerce Faculty of NITTE PU College also delivered an inspirational speech on this occasion. The celebration was ended with distribution of sweets to our students.

    NITTE PU College in collaboration with One Step Up Education organised career counselling sessions for students of first and second year on July 28, 2017. This programme helps students in schools and colleges to take decisions in their life with a deeper understanding of themselves and mould them into responsible, respected citizens of the future.

    The programme focuses on key areas such as holistic development, data – driven assessments, flagship classroom programmes and technology for better education and research in the field of education.

    The workshop will be conducted three times in a year on the following elements - Readiness test, Compass, classroom workshops, GD and interview session, admission alerts and yearlong online support.

    The first workshop was conducted on August 14, 2017 by Mr. Sutirtha Chatterjee for the enrolled students. The workshop covered areas such as Hotel management, Psychology, Defence, Law and Journalism. Interactive sessions were held where the students participated with great vigour and keenness. The workshop was highly successful and motivating for the students.

    Nitte PU College celebrated Freshers Day on July 14, 2017. The day was marked by the presence of esteemed guests Dr. N.R.Shetty - Chairman of NITTE Educational Trust, Mr. Rohit Punja- administrator NET and Dr .H.C. Nagaraj Principal of NMIT.

    The day’s event started with a welcome speech by Principal of NITTE PU College followed by lighting of the lamp. All the distinguished dignitaries motivated the students through their inspirational speech about hard work, success and attitude.

    The highlight of the day was the active participation of senior students as well as newcomers who showcased their talents in the cultural programmes.

    Several competitions such as T-shirt painting, pot painting, pick and speech and best out of waste were conducted for the students.

    The afternoon session saw all the students active by taking part in the fun and frolic filled games which included musical chair, bursting the balloon, paper cup pyramid and separation of grains.

    Freshers Day was a memorable event and the newcomers got a chance to mingle with their seniors and teaching staff. In the end, everyone had lots of memories to cherish and the students brimmed with confidence for the year ahead.

    We celebrated International yoga day on 21st June, 2017 in the activity hall. The programme commenced with the I PU science student, Tanmayee delivering a speech on yoga – its foundation and importance in our daily life. We also had our members of faculty Ms Jissa and Ms Amratha conveying the speech in English and Kannada stressing the benefits and effectiveness of yoga. Mrs Rajeshwari, yoga teacher at NIS displayed and guided different Asanas and explained their importance in our daily life to the students.

    Every student participated with great enthusiasm and energy .There was also active participation from the staff. It was a great and memorable event for the students.

    I PU students Orientation Ceremony 2017-2018

    Nitte Pre University College Commemorated an Orientation Programme for the I PU students. The event began with formal and warm welcome by handing over welcome cards to the I P U students by the seniors followed by invocation song and lighting of the lamp by our principal and Administrative Officer. The programme co ordinator Ms Jissa introduced all the staff to the students. Honorable principal addressed the students and briefed about Nitte Education Trust and also highlighted the importance of Education in our life. Mr RaviKiran department of Commerce briefed on the rules and regulations of the institution. One of the senior student Siddarth of II PU Science shared his first year experience in this occasion. Mr Manohar department of Chemistry spoke about the infrastructure and facilities provided in the campus. The programme winded up with the vote of thanks by Mr Kiran Kumar H department of Physics .The orientation programme was helpful for the students as everything was clearly expressed to them. It was a very successful event.

    Open Science Day

    Open Science Day was organized in the college. Students participated enthusiastically and came up with several scientific experiments and working models. These activities induce scientific temper in the minds of students to further investigate and explore science.

    Experiments on solid CO2, chemical reaction of iodine, ammonia crystals, creation of instant flame on hand, dispersion of light through prism and conversion of solar energy to electrical energy created a lot of curiosity in students who had been invited from the neighborhood schools.

    Nitte Pre-University College firmly believes that academic learning is only one aspect of a student's personality development, which needs to be augmented by co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. Through programmes such as talent contests, intercollegiate competitions and literary and sports activities students are encouraged to move out of their comfort zones and develop new interests.
